Disable indexing services to speed up PC

The indexing services can slow a system down. Basically these services help Windows find files faster. But if you do not frequently search for files often, you may be losing more than you gain!

Windows XP

Click: Start -> RUN and type: services.msc and hit: return

scroll down to Indexing Service, double-click, stop it, and set to disabled.

Windows Vista and Windows 7

Click: Start and type: services.msc and hit: return

scroll down to Windows Search, double-click, stop it, and set to disabled.
